## What each one is

**Massive.** Massive is a market data API for US stocks, options, indices, and futures, plus forex and crypto. It delivers data over REST, WebSockets, S3 flat files, and an MCP server.

**Tiingo.** Tiingo is a low-cost financial data API for end-of-day prices, fundamentals, news, IEX intraday data, forex, and crypto.

## Choose Massive if

- You need production intraday data from all US exchanges, not only IEX.
- You need US options or futures.
- You need every trade and NBBO quote.
- You want one plan that covers display to customers and options data.

## Choose Tiingo if

- End-of-day prices are enough and cost matters most.
- You need 30+ years of daily history for stocks, ETFs, and mutual funds.
- You want a large fundamentals dataset as an add-on to cheap price data.
- You need Chinese stocks or mutual funds.

## Where they differ

### End-of-day vs intraday

Tiingo is strongest at end-of-day data: 30+ years of daily prices for stocks, ETFs, and mutual funds, for $30/mo. Its production intraday feed is IEX alone, with a multi-venue API in beta. Massive has every US trade and quote from all exchanges, back to 2003.

### Options and futures

Tiingo does not list either. Massive sells all of OPRA and CME Group futures, from $29/mo per market.

### Who can see the data

Tiingo plans are internal use only. Showing data to people outside your company needs a separate redistribution license. Massive Business plans include display.

## Pricing

Prices in USD per month, from public pricing pages on October 23, 2026.

| What you need | Massive | Tiingo |
| --- | --- | --- |
| End-of-day US stock prices | Free, or Stocks Starter $29/mo for unlimited calls | Free, or Power $30/mo for individuals [1] |
| Real-time US stocks from all exchanges | $199/mo (Stocks Advanced) | Equity Realtime API in beta, not on the pricing page [1][4] |
| Display data to your customers | Stocks Business $2,499/mo, self-serve | Separate redistribution license [1] |

## Moving from Tiingo

### Example: daily AAPL bars for January 2024

Tiingo:

```bash
curl "https://api.tiingo.com/tiingo/daily/AAPL/prices?startDate=2024-01-02&endDate=2024-01-31" \
  -H "Authorization: Token YOUR_API_KEY"
```

Massive:

```bash
curl "https://api.massive.com/v2/aggs/ticker/AAPL/range/1/day/2024-01-02/2024-01-31" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY"
```

| Field | Tiingo | Massive |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Timestamp | date (ISO 8601 string) | t (Unix milliseconds, bar start) |
| Open | open (also adjOpen) | o |
| High | high (also adjHigh) | h |
| Low | low (also adjLow) | l |
| Close | close (also adjClose) | c |
| Volume | volume (also adjVolume) | v |
| VWAP | None | vw |
| Trade count | None | n |

- Tiingo returns raw and adjusted values side by side. Massive returns one set, split-adjusted unless you set adjusted=false.
- Massive bars add VWAP (vw) and trade count (n), which Tiingo daily prices do not have.
- If you use Tiingo for fundamentals, you can keep it and move intraday and options data to Massive.

### Switch with an agent

Paste this into any coding agent:

> Find every place my project calls Tiingo. Switch those calls to the Massive REST API. Read https://massive.com/docs/llms.txt for endpoints and auth, and read the API key from the MASSIVE_API_KEY environment variable. Keep my function signatures and data shapes the same, and list anything Massive does not cover.

The ported code calls the REST API directly. The Massive MCP server is optional, for checking real responses while the agent works: https://massive.com/docs/ai-tools/quickstart. Skills and plugins for coding agents: https://github.com/massive-com/ai
