## Where they differ

### What real-time US data covers

The default Twelve Data US feed comes from venues that need no extra exchange license. Twelve Data puts that at about 5% of US volume. Prices from 5% of the tape can drift from the full market. Massive Stocks Advanced covers all of it.

### Intraday history

Twelve Data intraday US bars start on December 15, 2022. Massive has 20+ years, so your intraday backtests can include 2008 and March 2020.

### Outside the US

For stocks listed outside the US, Twelve Data may be the better choice: up to 85 stock markets, real-time European data, mutual funds, and bonds. Massive covers US stocks, options, indices, and futures, plus global forex and crypto.

## Pricing

Prices in USD per month, from public pricing pages on October 23, 2026.

| What you need | Massive | Twelve Data |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Real-time US stocks, personal use | $199/mo (Stocks Advanced), 100% of US volume | Free on every plan, from venues with about 5% of US volume. Full-market data is an add-on with no published price [1][4] |
| Commercial display in your product | Stocks Business $2,499/mo, self-serve | Venture $499/mo, or from $149/mo at the lowest credit level [2] |

## Moving from Twelve Data

### Example: daily AAPL bars for January 2024

Twelve Data:

```bash
curl "https://api.twelvedata.com/time_series?symbol=AAPL&interval=1day&start_date=2024-01-02&end_date=2024-02-01" \
  -H "Authorization: apikey YOUR_API_KEY"
```

Massive:

```bash
curl "https://api.massive.com/v2/aggs/ticker/AAPL/range/1/day/2024-01-02/2024-01-31" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY"
```

| Field | Twelve Data | Massive |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Timestamp | datetime ("YYYY-MM-DD", exchange time) | t (Unix milliseconds, bar start) |
| Open | open (string) | o |
| High | high (string) | h |
| Low | low (string) | l |
| Close | close (string) | c |
| Volume | volume (string) | v |
| VWAP | None | vw |
| Trade count | None | n |

- Twelve Data end_date is exclusive in practice, so January ends at 2024-02-01. Massive end dates are inclusive.
- Twelve Data returns values as strings, newest first by default. Massive returns numbers, oldest first.
- Twelve Data charges credits per request, and the cost changes by endpoint. Massive paid plans have no per-request cost, so you can remove credit tracking from your code.

### Switch with an agent

Paste this into any coding agent:

> Find every place my project calls Twelve Data. Switch those calls to the Massive REST API. Read https://massive.com/docs/llms.txt for endpoints and auth, and read the API key from the MASSIVE_API_KEY environment variable. Keep my function signatures and data shapes the same, and list anything Massive does not cover.

The ported code calls the REST API directly. The Massive MCP server is optional, for checking real responses while the agent works: https://massive.com/docs/ai-tools/quickstart. Skills and plugins for coding agents: https://github.com/massive-com/ai
