Introducing
Sep 1, 2026
We are excited to announce the general availability of stock market data from Massive for AI agents via x402 payments. AI agents can now buy market data on demand, one request at a time, with no human in the loop. There is no account to create and no API key to manage. An agent pays for each request in USDC on dedicated routes at agent.massive.com, which we built together with Coinbase.
The workflow for accessing market data has always assumed a person will sign up, store an API key, and manage a subscription. An agent working on its own cannot do any of that, and an agent that needs access to market data in the middle of a task should not be forced to be interrupted. x402 replaces the setup step with a payment inside the request itself.
“For AI agents to make informed trading decisions, they need real-time access to the best market data, without the friction of API keys, subscriptions, or human provisioning. Massive’s equities data API joining the x402 ecosystem means trading agents can now discover and pay for live stock data per request, settled instantly with stablecoins. This is a critical building block for the future of agentic finance and trading.”

x402 is an open payment standard, created by Coinbase in 2025 and since contributed to the x402 Foundation, which operates under the Linux Foundation's governance model with members including AWS, Cloudflare, Google, Stripe, and Visa. It uses the HTTP 402 Payment Required status code to price a resource in the response itself. A client requests a resource, gets back machine readable payment requirements, signs a payment in USDC, and retries the request with proof of payment. Once the payment is verified, the server returns the data. The entire exchange happens over normal HTTP, which is what makes it usable by a program with no human in the loop.
Verification and settlement are handled by a facilitator, which is a service that checks the signed payment, settles it on chain, and tells the server whether it cleared, so a data provider does not have to run any crypto infrastructure of its own. We use Coinbase Developer Platform's facilitator, and it verifies every x402 payment made to our routes.
Agents call routes on agent.massive.com, where each data product is its own route and carries its own price and its own entitlement scope.
1. The agent finds the route on Agentic.Market or in the x402 Bazaar.
2. The agent requests the route.
3. The route returns HTTP 402 with the payment scheme, network, asset, and pay to address.
4. The agent signs the payment and retries with the payment proof.
5. The Coinbase Developer Platform's facilitator verifies the payment, and the route returns the data.
Everything happens against agent.massive.com, so the agent never receives a token for our main API stack and never talks to a second domain. Agents need a wallet that can sign x402 payments on a supported network, and Coinbase's tooling handles wallet creation and payment signing. Route schemas, input and output examples, and working commands are in the documentation.
We’re adding coverage for US stocks today. The routes below give an agent price history, current market snapshots, market movers, technical indicators, news, filings, and ticker reference data. Intraday data points are based on FMV (Fair Market Value), our proprietary algorithm that generates an indication of a tradable instrument’s value in real-time. Each route is priced on its own, so an agent pays for the request it makes rather than for a bundle it does not need.
The routes available today are as follows.
For the current route list, with each route's parameters and price, see the Massive listing on Agentic.Market. Your agent can also read it directly from the x402 Bazaar, and every route carries its own schema and examples in its 402 response.
“More and more of our traffic is coming from agents, whether through our LLM-friendly markdown docs or our new MCP server. Discovery has to work the same way; agent-first. Being listed in the x402 Bazaar means an agent can find our data and pay for it in the middle of a task, so the person waiting on the other end gets an answer without full onboarding friction and can make a decision in that moment with the exact data that is critical to their workflow.”
—Stevie Palmateer, VP of Product Engineering, Massive
Pricing is per request and set per route, so a route's price appears in its Bazaar listing and comes back in the 402 response. An agent should read the amount from that response rather than assume a flat rate across routes. Nothing changes for existing customers, whose API keys, subscriptions, and existing endpoints work exactly as they do today. The x402 routes are an additional path on a separate subdomain, and no code changes are required.
Agents can begin using this today, since Massive stock market data is now available on agent.massive.com for a per request payment in USDC, with no account to create and no API key to manage. The first release covers US stocks, including aggregates, snapshots, technical indicators, news, filings, and reference data. Routes are discoverable through Agentic.Market, in the x402 Bazaar, and each route prices itself in its own 402 response, and Coinbase Developer Platform's facilitator verifies the payment before the data is returned. Nothing about existing API key and subscription access changes.
We have full documentation and examples on the x402 payments page, and the route listings are in the x402 Bazaar and on Agentic.Market. If an agent needs data we do not offer yet, the free feedback endpoint accepts plain text reports, and you can contact us with questions about agent access.
