Ask before you pay, not after. There is no code and no checkbox at checkout for the education discount: the education page describes the program, but the reduction is only ever applied by us, to an existing subscription, once you have asked through the chat and we have verified your university email address.
Applies to
- Plans: individual subscriptions. Business, enterprise and commercial licenses are priced separately.
- Endpoints: the discount changes the price, not the data, so everything the tier includes is unchanged.
- Asset classes: all.
How to get it
- Sign up with your university email address, or tell us that address if your account already exists under another one.
- Start a chat at massive.com/contact and say you are a student or a member of faculty. This step is the one that applies the discount; reading the education page does not.
- We verify the address and apply the discount to your individual subscription.
Both students and teaching staff qualify, so a professor setting up a course and the students taking it are covered by the same route. If you are equipping a whole class, say so in the chat, because that is a conversation rather than a checkout.
The two discounts are not the same thing
The two discounts are not the same thing, and they are often confused:
| Discount | Who | Where it is stated |
|---|---|---|
| Education | Students and faculty, with a university email | Applied by us only, after you ask in the chat |
| Annual billing | Anyone paying for a year up front | Published on the pricing page as 20 percent |
The current figure for the education discount is best confirmed in the chat, because a published article is the wrong place for a number that can move.
Why a university email is required
A university email is required because it is the cheapest verification for everyone involved. The alternative is asking for enrollment documents, which is slower for you and more to handle for us, and an institutional address is issued by the institution itself, so it is evidence rather than a claim.
If you see an error
No discount applied after signing up means the account is not on the university address. Start a chat with the address and we can attach it.
An account created with a personal address is not a problem. Tell us the university address in the chat rather than creating a second account, which would split your billing history.
