Why does sign-in say "Account is already registered with a different provider"?

The error names the sign-in method your Massive account was created with, and only that method opens it: "massive" means email and password, so choose Sign in with Email and reset the password if needed.

A Gmail address is not the same thing as Google sign-in on Massive. A Massive account created with email and password on a Gmail address signs in with Email, and choosing Sign in with Google for it returns "Account is already registered with a different provider: massive". An account created on Massive.com before the rename keeps the sign-in method and the password it had there.

Applies to

  • Plans: every plan, free and paid. The sign-in method belongs to the account, not to the plan.
  • Endpoints: none. This is about signing in to the dashboard at massive.com/dashboard/login.
  • Asset classes: all.

How to sign in when the error names massive

The name massive after the colon means the Massive account was created with an email address and a password, so the Google, GitHub and Facebook buttons will not open it.

  1. Open the Massive sign-in page and choose Sign in with Email.
  2. Enter the account's email address and its password.
  3. If you do not know the password, open the forgot-password page, follow the link in the email it sends, then sign in with Email again.

How to sign in to a Massive account created with GitHub, Google or Facebook

A Massive account created with GitHub, Google or Facebook signs in only with that same button. The sign-in page has four options: Sign in with GitHub, Sign in with Facebook, Sign in with Google and Sign in with Email.

  • Massive cannot switch such an account to email and password, or unlink the provider from it.
  • A password reset does not get you in with email. The account has no Massive password, because GitHub, Google or Facebook does the sign-in.
  • If you are not sure how you signed up, the "different provider" error names the method the account was created with.

If the email address on your GitHub account changed

A change to the primary email address on your GitHub account changes which Massive account Sign in with GitHub opens. After the change, Sign in with GitHub creates a separate Massive account under the new address and signs you in to it. Your plans stay on the original account.

To get back into the original Massive account, make the original address your primary email on GitHub again, then choose Sign in with GitHub. If you can no longer use that address, create a new Massive account as described in How to get a Massive account with a different sign-in method.

How to get a Massive account with a different sign-in method

A Massive account with a different sign-in method has to be a new account. This is also what to do when you can no longer use the original method, for example because your GitHub account was deleted or suspended.

  1. Create the new account on the sign-up page with an email address that no other Massive account uses. The old account's address cannot be used for a second account. If you want to keep that address, start a chat at massive.com/contact before you create anything.
  2. If the old account has a paid plan, start a chat at massive.com/contact and name both accounts.
  3. Replace the API key everywhere you use it. A new Massive account has its own API keys.

Why this happens

Each Massive account has one sign-in method, which is the method used to create it. One email address belongs to one Massive account. When you choose a different button for that address, the sign-in page refuses it and names the method on record. massive is the name for an account created with email and password.

If you see an error

Account is already registered with a different provider: massive means the Massive account was created with email and password. Fix: choose Sign in with Email, and reset the password if you do not know it.

The same error ending in github means the Massive account was created with GitHub. Fix: choose Sign in with GitHub, with the GitHub account you signed up with.

The same error on the Massive sign-up page, after choosing Google or GitHub, means a Massive account on that email address already exists. Fix: sign in to that account with the method the error names instead of creating a new one.

    Description
Yes. Every extended-hours trade and quote is published, from 04:00 to 20:00 Eastern. There is no session parameter, so you select a session with timestamps, and expect far fewer aggregate bars outside regular hours because many extended-hours trades are odd lots that cannot set a price.
