Two kinds of account cannot use the dashboard for the email change, and they fail for different reasons. A business account has no such control and we make the change for you. An account created with Google sign-in has nothing on our side to change at all, because the address belongs to your Google account. Everyone else does both changes themselves, in the Massive dashboard.
Applies to
- Plans: every plan. This is an account setting rather than an entitlement.
- Endpoints: none. Both changes happen in the dashboard, and neither affects your API keys.
- Asset classes: all.
How to change your email address
- Open the account section of your dashboard.
- Enter the new address and save.
- Open the verification email sent to the new address and follow the link. The change is not complete until you do, and until then the old address is still the one on the account.
Your API keys do not change, so nothing you have built stops working.
How to change your password
- Sign out, then choose the forgot-password link on the sign-in page.
- Follow the link in the email that arrives.
- Set the new password.
There is no separate change-password form inside the dashboard, so the reset flow is the route even when you already know your current password.
When you have to ask us instead
You have to ask us instead in two cases, neither of which can be done from the dashboard:
| Case | Why | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Your account is a business or enterprise account | The dashboard's account section does not offer the change on these accounts | Start a chat at massive.com/contact and we will make the change |
| You signed up with Google sign-in | There is no Massive-held address or password to change: both come from your Google account | Change it in Google, or start a chat and we will work out the right route with you |
For a business account we make the change for you, after confirming you have authority over the account, which is why it is not self-serve. For a Google sign-in there may be nothing on our side to change at all, so tell us what you are trying to achieve rather than asking for a swap.
Why the email address matters
The email address matters because your subscription, invoices and usage reporting are all keyed to the account, and the address identifies it. That is also why the change needs verification: an unverified address would leave the account reachable only at an inbox nobody had proved they own.
If you see an error
No verification email usually means it is in a spam folder, or that the new address has a typo. Try the change again and read the address back before saving.
An error saying the address is already in use means there is another Massive account on it. Start a chat and we will sort out which account you want to keep.
A password reset link that has expired can be requested again. They are single-use and short-lived on purpose.
